Self-Assessment: 4--I believe that my quote shows the essence of the novel by capturing the what was felt by the Japanese in Hawaii. This corresponds with the conflict as it tells of the struggles and the attitude that Tomi had. My graphic does a good job of expressing the blend and truce between the Japanese and Americans in this novel. It also showcases how the Japanese were able to "leap" out of the water and overcome their obstacles.
